“The right footwear for me means not having to think about your feet when you are pushing them to their limits every day.”
— Ralf Dujmovits | LOWA PRO Team
When you are racking up one kilometre after another in a comfortable pair of trekking boots, you certainly won’t mind taking a detour that you encounter along the way. This is particularly the case with the CAMINO EVO LL. It impresses users with its supple leather inner-lining that creates the perfect climate for the wearer’s feet. In addition, the moderately stiff midsole has been optimised both functionally and optically. Thanks to the softer insert used in the heel and forefoot areas, the bi-density sole creates an extra layer of cushioning whilst the rest of the sole provides the stability that wearers need with the help of a harder insert. The combination of heel-to-toe drop and the FLEXFIT® system on the ankle facilitates ergonomic rolling.

The CAMINO EVO LL comes equipped with a Vibram sole. The Italian sole manufacturer has been one of the leading brands of high-quality soles for many years.
The VIBRAM APPTRAIL II sole has a modern, self-cleaning profile. It proves its exceptional capabilities particularly when it is put to the test on challenging terrain. The sole’s features are complemented on every terrain by the distinctive heel front that excels during descents.
Thanks to the two-zone lacing system used in the CAMINO EVO LL, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the shoe can be individually adapted to the anatomy of the foot and laced in different ways for ascents and descents.
“I can’t lace up a shoe any more sensitively than this. I relish this lacing system every time I switch from coarse gravel or snow to rocks. A short tug and the approach shoe is transformed into a climbing shoe.”
— Stefan Glowacz | LOWA PRO Team
The year of 2023 marks a milestone in LOWA’s history. The shoemaker is celebrating its 100th anniversary. It is the perfect time to look back over the last 100 years and bring the company’s history to life.

To ensure laces run flexibly and smoothly through the eyelets, small roller balls minimise friction in the metal eyelets of the CAMINO EVO LL.
Anyone who returns home after a long hiking tour knows that feeling of gratitude. Gratitude for breathtaking days spent in the great outdoors, for spectacular moments and for snug boots that safely took the hiker up the mountains and back down again. Many hikers have a very special relationship with their hiking boots. They are something more than just another pair of shoes in the closet. They are more like a hiking partner and a real companion. For a few, they even become something that can only be described as friends. Hikers just can’t do without them. The boots fit like a glove and accompany us everywhere – as they should. Sometimes you wonder: What would the boots say if they could talk? What would they tell us? What have they seen?

As a result, the tongue is located where it should be – without any slippage or pressure points: This is what X-LACING technology of the CAMINO EVO LL is all about. This special lacing system secures the tongue both vertically and horizontally. Because the lacing system gains independence from the height of the instep, the design is perfect for any type of foot. This technology ensures that the pressure of the laces is transferred not just to the hooks but to the tongue as well.
“The shoe tongue has to fit and stay where it belongs. It’s one thing less that I have to worry about when the going gets tough on the tour.”
— Ines Papert | LOWA PRO Team
Nature provides us with all sorts of unique opportunities to experience unforgettable adventures and enjoy very special moments. More and more people are making a conscious decision to get back in tune with nature. But the decision by more and more people to get back in tune with nature also results in a greater and greater impact on the environment. You hear words like “awareness” and “mindfulness” a lot in discussions about this trend – but what exactly do people mean when they use them? An example: The practise of taking your trash home with you after a tour now comes second nature to many people. Such steps, no matter how tiny they may seem, can be the key to a mindful and sustainable outdoor lifestyle. But if you look around outdoors, you will certainly see many places that certainly have room for improvement.

Feet can roll more effectively if the upper of a hiking boot can be easily bent. Such a feature saves energy when the wearer climbs hills and it provides real comfort in the process. For this reason, LOWA has integrated a flexible zone and a lace loop into this area for the CAMINO EVO LL. This involves repositioning the boot’s eyelets and using a flexible lace hook that improves heel comfort and facilitates bending.
When LOWA sits down to develop its line of Alpine boots, the company consults with the best professional mountaineers in the German-speaking world. These ambitious mountain athletes know exactly what counts during extreme high-altitude tours, on via ferrata and during far-off expeditions. The LOWA PRO Team advises our specialists in the Development Department in its work to create footwear that perfectly meets the athletes’ needs. The result of this work is a new line that delivers top performance on the mountain. The models have become much more athletic and lighter. Over the past few years, a number of exceptional LOWA boots have been developed in the “performance” segment during countless meetings with athletes and testing events.

To add flexibility to each eyelet of the CAMINO EVO LL, the lacing systems through which laces are threaded are affixed separately. These sections are made of soft leather trim or supple textile materials that prevent pressure points. Thanks to the flexible arrangement of the eyelets, the laces can be individually adjusted without producing any excessive pressure on specific areas. But the tongue maintains its optimum positioning.

The specially designed tongue of the CAMINO EVO LL substantially enhances comfort. The tongue includes extra padding for the outer portion of the foot, and the upper end of it is especially soft. This asymmetric padding provides effectively coordinated support to many areas of the foot. To take into account the foot’s anatomy, the recesses for the ankle area have also been placed higher on the inside than on the outside, and a flexible bending insert has been integrated into the inner side by the foot.
The days are getting longer and warmer again. Slowly, the last traces of winter blues fade away and the desire for a new adventure rises. The hiking season is just around the corner. It’s about time to lace up our hiking boots and explore new trails. But before we set off, it’s important to prepare properly and, above all, to check our equipment after its winter slumber.

Polyurethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good cushioning properties and is usually used in the midsole as a result. Through the use of PU, the soles become lightweight and functionally flexible.
Polyester is synthetic plastic fibre made from crude oil. In chemical terms, it is a polymer that can be processed into many different materials. Thanks to its chemical flexibility, polyester is lightweight, dries quickly, does not shrink and has the highest levels of tear and abrasion resistance.
Viscoelastic latex foam is made of a remarkable polymer that lends a special form memory to the foam. Once body heat or pressure is applied to the viscoelastic foam, the foam adapts exactly to these particular contours. This feature equally distributes pressure and eases stress on the feet.
Mesh is a material that consists of many evenly spaced holes. It is usually made of polyester or nylon and basically a lattice-like material that is created by interwoven threads. Thanks to its special design, the man-made fibre is particularly permeable to air, has special moisture-regulating qualities and is easy to care for, breathable and crease-resistant.
Nubuck leather is a full-grain leather that is slightly sanded, a process that lends a velvety look to the leather. Nubuck leather is especially durable, robust and open-pored. Depending on the desired look, the suede can be left untreated during the manufacturing process or oiled or waxed.
